Master's + Teacher Licensure
The MA+ Programs are for candidates who have earned a bachelor’s degree within the liberal arts from an accredited institution of higher education. The MA+ teacher licensure programs lead to a Colorado initial teacher licensure in K-12 Music, Secondary Math, Secondary Science, Secondary English Language Arts, Secondary Latin or Secondary Social Studies plus a Master’s of Arts degree. The MA+ English Language Arts and the MA+ Social Studies programs are completed in one year with a summer start and finish. Candidates take two courses during the first summer, complete full-time coursework and practica in the fall and spring semesters, and then complete one course during summer to finish the MA in Curriculum and Instruction degree. The MA+ Math and the MA+ Science programs are completed in two years with a fall start. Candidates take coursework the first two semesters, complete full-time student teaching in the second fall, and then complete the MA in Curriculum and Instruction degree in the second spring. The MA+ Music program is completed in conjunction with the College of Music, and candidates receive a MA degree in Music Education. The MA+ Latin program is completed in conjunction with the Department of Classics, and candidates receive a MA degree in Classics. It may take three years to complete the MA+ Latin program.
